Project abstract:


Submitted project deals with the research and development of new nano-coatings and micro-coatings on the surface of selected metallic materials. The main aspect of the project is research in the field of new surface treatment of metallic materials in order to increase the selected mechanical (e.g. hardness, abrasion resistance), chemical (e.g. corrosion resistance) and physical (e.g. thermal stability, thermal conductivity) properties.

Goal of the project:


This research project is focused on pre-applied research with a significant potential for new possibilities of surface treatment of metallic materials in order to increase selected mechanical (e.g. hardness, abrasion resistance), chemical (e.g. corrosion resistance) and physical (e.g. thermal stability, thermal conductivity) properties. We will develop new possibilities for nano technological protection of metal surfaces in order to increase the useful properties and improve the surface with a focus on targeted modification of hardness, corrosion resistance, frictional properties, minimization of environmental contamination, durability, chemical resistance and other mechanical and thermal properties. In particular, they are advanced surface treatment of polymer matrix coatings and the addition of various metallic and non-metallic nanoparticles (nanocomposite coatings, activity A1) and modification of the surfaces of materials by laser welding (activity A2), magnetron sputtering (activity A3) and influence of the surface structure by ion beam 4A) with a view to increasing the useful properties of metallic materials. The aim of the project is to propose solutions in the pre-application phase allowing efficient use of products in a wide range of working conditions (thermal, power, dimensional, etc.).

Project activities:


A) The implementation team consists of an administrative team and a team of experts.
B) Realization of research plans with potential for future use of results in practice. The project focuses on the creation of new protective functional coatings on the surface of metallic materials (aluminium alloy, steel). It will mainly be the application of coatings, with different properties, for materials that are used, for example, to produce moulds for casting different materials (metals - Al alloys, polymer materials).
C) Experimental verification of possible practical application of research results including treatment of intellectual property: the selected research parameters will be defined and experimentally tested within the project, which could then be applied in practice. Verification of the practical application of the research results will be carried out by simulation of production similar to that we know from the manufacturing companies. It will mainly be the production of a reduced prototype of a mould to which a specific coating with the required properties will be applied and subsequently will be used for simulated production where the desired results will be examined. The results of the research will be published in domestic journals, in international journals, at national and international scientific conferences, congresses or seminars. The output of the project will be filing international patent applications
G) Analysis of the potential for the practical application of the research results: within this indicator the outcome will be the evaluation of the applicability of the relevant parameters of the research results (in what period of time the results of the research will be applied in practice, what further application is needed, etc.).
E) When dealing with the project, one of the activities within the project activities is to establish and develop cooperation with the application sphere. The cooperation will take place with specified enterprises to match the project issue/topic. H) Acquisition of the infrastructure necessary for project research purposes and their experimental verification, including installation-related building modifications.
